2003 - China puts man into space.

China launched their first man into space and became the third country to send a man into space. Astronaut Yang Liwei blasted off from the Gobi desert launch facilities aboard the Shenzhou V spacecraft. He orbited the Earth 14 times and returned 22 hours after launch.
